Jehangir Art Gallery

Yashika Sugandh participated in a group exhibition at the Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai, in 2015. This presentation at one of India’s most iconic and historic art venues marked an important early milestone during her formative years as an artist, while she was pursuing her Master of Fine Arts degree at Amity University.

Established in 1952, Jehangir Art Gallery has long served as Mumbai’s premier exhibition space for both established and emerging artists, occupying a central place in India’s modern and contemporary art history. Located in the cultural heart of South Mumbai near the Prince of Wales Museum (now Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya), the gallery has been instrumental in launching countless artistic careers and fostering critical discourse around Indian art. Its four exhibition halls have witnessed seminal shows by masters of Indian modernism as well as groundbreaking presentations by new voices, making it an essential platform for artists seeking to engage with Mumbai’s vibrant art community and collector base.

For Sugandh, exhibiting at Jehangir Gallery in 2015 represented significant early recognition and provided valuable exposure to one of India’s most discerning art audiences. This opportunity, alongside her concurrent participation at ICCR in New Delhi, demonstrated her emerging presence within India’s institutional art ecosystem even before completing her formal education. The experience contributed to her growing confidence and visibility, setting the stage for subsequent achievements including the City Award for Delhi in 2017 and participation in India Art Fair the same year.
