Surface: 01

Yashika Sugandh participated in Surface: 01, an ambitious exhibition showcasing emerging artists at ArtBuzz Studios in Okhla, New Delhi, from October 12-14, 2018. Founded by Anubha Gupta and Amisha Chowbey, ArtBuzz Studios created this exhibition as an open platform to support the phenomenal talent of young artists in Delhi who lacked adequate space and exposure.

The interdisciplinary exhibition brought together 31 emerging artists from across the country, including Abhinav Chowbey, Ankit Khurana, Arjun Sara, Devki Modi, Kritika Anand, Waleed Zafar, Shivangi Ladha, and Yashika Sugandh, among others. The exhibition was conceived to encourage creative exchange and dialogue while assisting young artists in developing their careers. What began as an idea to promote artists who co-created at ArtBuzz Studios evolved into a comprehensive platform for emerging voices in contemporary Indian art.

Surface: 01 represented a unique opportunity for young artists to showcase their work to the Delhi art world without the traditional financial barriers of gallery representation. ArtBuzz Studios covered exhibition installation costs and committed to giving full proceeds from artwork sales directly to the artists, taking no commission. This artist-friendly approach created a supportive environment where emerging practitioners could meet fellow artists, explore new directions, and progress in their artistic journeys while building connections with collectors and the broader art community.
