Emergent Art Space
Yashika Sugandh exhibited with Emergent Art Space, an international online platform dedicated to showcasing emerging artists from around the world. In November 2020, she presented her “Silent Scream” series, a collection of pen on paper drawings created during the pandemic lockdown that captured the introspective mood of those unprecedented times.
The “Silent Scream” series featured quietly provocative black and white imagery that unraveled inner reflections, melding childhood memories with everyday surroundings, routines, and experiences. Through this body of work, Sugandh juxtaposed objects with her thoughts, documenting ongoing realities and the surroundings that echoed within her during the isolation of the pandemic. The drawings offered intimate glimpses into her daily studio ritual, including meditations on familiar objects like her favourite cushioned chair, where each day brought different lines of thought and creative contemplation.
Emergent Art Space provided Sugandh with vital international visibility during a period when physical exhibitions were largely impossible. This digital platform allowed her to connect with a global audience and share her contemplative practice beyond geographical boundaries, demonstrating the resilience of artistic communities in adapting to new modes of exhibition and dialogue during challenging times.
