India Art Fair

Yashika Sugandh participated in India Art Fair 2017, marking a significant milestone in her professional artistic career. Held annually in New Delhi, India Art Fair is South Asia’s leading international contemporary art fair, bringing together galleries, collectors, curators, and art enthusiasts from around the world. This participation coincided with a pivotal year for Sugandh, who had just completed her Master of Fine Arts degree from Amity University and was beginning to exhibit her work professionally.

The 2017 edition provided Sugandh with an important platform to introduce her distinctive visual language to a broader audience within the contemporary art ecosystem. Her inclusion in this prestigious fair, alongside her recognition the same year with the City Award for Delhi in Kalakand Art by the Prafulla Dahanukar Art Foundation, signalled the beginning of a promising career trajectory. Even at this early stage, her work was characterised by intricate brushwork influenced by Indian miniature painting techniques, exploring themes of social contradictions and the relationship between humanity and nature.

India Art Fair has remained a significant venue for South Asian contemporary art, and Sugandh’s participation in its 2017 edition positioned her within a vital dialogue about emerging voices in Indian contemporary art.
